Does Anyone Live in The Country?
According to the World Economic Forum (Network Readiness Index 2010 report), for the first time in history, over half of our population is now living in cities. In Canada over 81% of our population is urban-based. That means less than 19% of our population is living in rural communities…and it wasn’t that long ago it was a 50:50 split. What if this trend continues? Is it any wonder that rural society is struggling?
The WEF goes on to state that Information Communication Technology (ICT) can be an enabler of a more economically, environmentally and socially sustainable country. Real life games integrated with game-driven marketing will revolutionize the approach to getting more people from these high density “digital” urban markets actively engaged in the rural outdoor activities.
The real life games being developed by our younger generation leverages the power of the internet, social media and cutting edge innovation to enable greater access to the digital “on-line” segment of our population which as we know, lives mostly in cities.
For government, business, academics and communities, this is an opportunity to transform the interaction with consumer power to develop a “user-created” marketing solution that will foster economic growth and development, both private and public. We believe that the work being done by the Fanshawe students will lay the foundation for the transformation to a new competitive economy.
