Experience The Difference
Experience the Difference…it is Real!
There is an old saying: “we are continually faced with great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems.”
Outdoor adventures offer great opportunities to connect with the inner you, with nature, with real people, with real life; a chance to escape the stresses of your daily routine and see what nature really has to offer. It provides you with an opportunity to recharge your batteries, your thoughts, your energy and your overall health. There is no greater feeling than the exhilaration of pent up stresses flowing out of your body only to be replaced with unbelievable relaxation. It is the environment that you live and work in that dictates your pace of life.
The problem is that we cannot see beyond the screen in front of us…..we need an excuse to break away from a virtual world. Make fishing the excuse and you will be rewarded with an exciting experience beyond all your expectations. You will find that real world outdoor adventures is in fact simple, fun, cool, exciting, easy and full of pleasant surprises, an environment void of stress even though you can stay digitally connected if you want to.
This past week I escaped to my own backyard; a place called Ellen Island Camp situated a short drive from Toronto near the town of Haileybury on Lady Evelyn Lake. My excuse was to go fishing with a few close friends. It turned out to be a gateway to a much broader experience.
I was connecting, networking and engaging with real people who genuinely cared that I had a good time. Owner Jeff Landriault and staff members Erin and Alex primary focus was to ensure I had a pleasant experience and that my expectations where always exceeded. They were the typical down-to-earth people of the north, not the artificial and plastic people of the business world we have deal with everyday.
I experienced real sunrises, sunsets and stars not obscured by pollution. I saw the real impact of global warming in low water levels in many lakes and rivers. I saw lots of wildlife and felt in touch with nature. I witnessed people of all ages having fun, doing their thing, partying, boating, exploring and in some cases, fishing. I met owners of the resorts who put passion over profit in order to provide you with the opportunity to experience the outdoors. And I met people like Jeff who realize change is necessary to provide expanded services that will meet the needs of a new generation…….you! They require your thoughts on how to make the outdoors more appealing to a new generation. Remember, fishing is an excuse….the experience is so much broader.
Oh, the fishing was great but the outdoor adventure was absolutely fabulous!
