Times Have Changed!
How often have we heard that?
But to “change” we must first ask the market what it is that they want. Our survey found at www.gdexx.com (press enter) is the first step in the process of change. Of course, to make it worth your while to complete the survey, your name is automatically entered into a very exciting promotion for an outdoor adventure valued at over $16,000.00. Details on the contest can be found at www.tecvana.com .
Why Change? We all know it is now a very modern connected world much different than just a mere 10 years ago and dramatically different than just 20 years ago. Today we live behind technology and in fact it can be argued that for many people, technology now manages their life and not the other way around.
As for change, well it is unstoppable! I have often heard it said that if you cannot keep pace with change, you will quickly be left behind. And so I ask myself, what is TecVana really all about. Is it about changing the outdoor industry to appeal to the younger generation thereby getting more people to be physically active or is it about trying to change rural society to align with today’s modern market or are we just trying to develop a new tourism model?
TecVana is about trying to get more of the younger hi-tech generation to take a break from their hectic daily lives and briefly escape to enjoy an outdoor experience in our own backyard, be it just outside the city limits or in the near and farther northern communities. Too many of us are spending the better part of our days sitting in front of a screen; be it the TV, computer, iPod, BlackBerry, gaming technology or some other information technology. While we are very mentally active with the internet and mobile, we have become very physically inactive. Heck, we can even use technology to have a virtual outdoor experience in our home, never having to venture outdoors.
I have also heard it said that the human body was not meant for sitting; rather for standing, walking, running and sleeping. How much of your day is actually “sitting in front of a screen”? What is this doing to our health?
So yes, we are trying to “change” the outdoor industry to be more appealing and aligned to the younger generation lifestyle. The industry needs to break with traditionalism. It needs to change or be left behind forever.
If we can get your help in changing the outdoor industry, everything else will fall into place. It is important to let us know your opinion and to make sure all of your friends get involved as well.
